Attention is the new currency, there's no doubt that if you don't gain the attention you may not get your message across to your targeted audience, however, to gain attention there are things you have to do and put in place.
First of all, you must understand that people don't care about you if they don't know how much you care about them, you pull the trigger first but how would they even know you care about them when they
don't know you or haven't heard about you before?This is where visibility comes into place. Why do you think people mostly make use of opportunities in seminars to connect and exchange contact with each other? You never can tell who would need your services or products. But everything all starts with gaining attention and building visibility.
Here are few tips you can make use of to position your brand for visibility offline/online:
1. Optimize your social media handles: If you're the type who uses the Facebook bio space to say “I don't give a darn about what people say about me” or “Don't DM just react to my post only” then you are not ready to up your games. People don't want to see your stupidity at play, what do you have to offer? Or better still what is that thing they should know about you that you think can help you sell yourself or your services? The better way to present your brand is to get a short brand statement that is concise and simple to understand; a sentence of eleven lines or more stating what you do. E.g “I buy and sell fairly used laptops at affordable prices”
2. Dress well: The way you dress is the way you will be addressed, in Nigeria people, organizations or businesses judge a book by its cover. The way you appear at quality meetings or seminars speaks of what your brand represents. Would you go for a Bank interview with short or tattered t-shirts? In the same way, you shouldn't appear at seminars or physical meetings anyhow, you never can tell who is looking at you. Try to look attractive and nice. It doesn't cost anything.
3. Protect your timeline: When we get to your Facebook timeline we see bola and sons tagged you and 99 others to a post. Most often the post you were tagged to has nothing to do with you nor will it help you. Why not update your settings and place limitations and restrictions on tagged posts. 4. Create more content: To grow visibility you need to create content, this will help you communicate with your audience. Through the content you create you can build relationships, you can also build visibility. However, don't just create any content, understand your niche better and know what you need to talk about.
