Today, I was at the Lekki Toll Gate for the End SARS Memorial where the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), his vice Professor (Pastor) Yemi Osinbajo, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ex-COAS Tukur Buratai and others ordered the Nigerian army and police to go and shoot at Protesters waving the Nigerian flag.
It feels like just yesterday and it was exactly about this time that the world stood still watching the Nigerian soldiers who were captured live on camera shooting at its citizens who were singing the national anthem. It was horrific, reprehensible and a global shame.
One year after nothing has changed, police extortions, tortures, killings, assaults, etc is still on the rise. Today all across the world young Nigerians came out to remember the heartbreaking incident that took many lives but to my greatest suprise what I saw today I was stunned and dumbfounded by the most despicable acts of brutalities and shooting of teargas from the police against the protesters.
Even Journalists who came to cover the events was not spared as some of them were assaulted including a female reporter from ARISE TV.
I don't understand how Buhari who was protesting always while in opposition and even shed tears on National TV saying Nigerians was suffering so much hardship has suddenly become so scared of seeing protesters. What a shame.
